My ceramics practice began with a taster session at Bristol Folk House where a lovely instructor told me I had a “knack” for pottery. Having never had a knack before in my life, I thought I should probably see where that leads.

Several years later, I’ve found myself set up in my cosy little garden cabin, throwing, glazing, and firing whenever I can (along with all the less glamourous clay chores that you won’t see on Instagram).

Hey, I’m Stephen, and Burnt Mud is the name I’ve given to the little ceramics studio in my back garden.

Delivery and Returns

  • Orders are shipped first class within 3 working days and should arrive within 3 - 7 working days total.

  • I can, but it requires extra-robust packaging to keep the piece intact. Please contact me if you want to order from outside the UK and I’ll quote you a specific price.

  • If the item arrives damaged or has a defect, please contact me and I’ll arrange a replacement or a refund.

Other questions

  • All tableware pieces are food and dishwasher safe. They are also microwave safe unless they use lustre (metallic) glaze detailing. Decorative pieces should not be considered food safe. Regular dusting is recommended, though occasional hand-washing will really keep them sparkling.

  • My practice tends to revolve around spontaneity, in my free time around my freelance animation work. However do get in touch if you’d like something specific and I’ll let you know if I can accommodate.

  • Shop updates are provided on a first-come-first-served basis. Sign up to the mailing list to be notified ahead of time!
